Internet Marketing: How To Attract More Targeted Traffic To Your Website.

The basic underlying principle of internet marketing is that you need to attract as much targeted traffic to your website as possible.

It’s logical obviously, as the more people who view what you’re offering; the greater the chances are that they’ll buy something when they’re there. Yet, it’s surprising just how little time business owners spend thinking of ways in which they can attract this traffic. Many mistakenly believe that it will happen naturally, and that all they need to do is sit back and wait. Unfortunately, miracles don’t happen. The most successful business owners are the ones who are driven and are constantly looking for new ways to attract extra business.

These are the type of people who won’t sit on their laurels. If they want something, they’ll go and get it.

So if you’re one of the less-driven generation of online business owners, how can you go about attracting greater volumes of targeted traffic? What can you do increase your conversion rates? The answer, you’ll be relieved to hear, isn’t complicated: all you need to do is make your website attractive and functional. If you can achieve that then you will definitely start to attract the right type of customer. So how do you do that?

Optimise your website for social media.

Is the impact of social media all it’s cracked up to be? Some would argue not, but anecdotal evidence would suggest otherwise. It is influential, so businesses should make sure their websites are optimised to maximise this potential.  This will also ensure that a business can virtually guarantee a higher ranking in the SERPs. So, how would you optimise your website for social media?

Well, the first thing to do is to ensure you participate and engage with other networks and communities, like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and blogs. If you want to be accepted and respected as a member of a community, then you have be a part of it and add something of value. Think about commenting on articles by other users in your niche market, and submit your own informative articles to other people’s websites. This will guarantee that you’ll build up your network and generate interest from people who will be interested in both you and your company’s products and services.

Don’t be afraid of a bit of self-promotion either, but don’t overegg the pudding. Write your own articles and share them amongst your community if you think they will be useful. If the information is, then people will share it amongst their circles. If they do, return the favour and promote their articles. The more you engage and interact with the community, the greater your chances of improving the levels of social media optimisation. You should see some dramatic increases in traffic volumes if you do this, and hopefully a greater proportion of conversions too.

Listing on directories.

Directories can offer another important way of gaining credibility and creating additional links for your website. Many directories have a good search engine page ranking and a decent reputation. If you list on them you will increase the number of one-way links and that will that be beneficial for your page rank. However, not all directories are equal: some are more equal than others. Do some homework and make sure the directory you want to list on has gravitas. Listing on a poor directory will probably do you no good.

Article marketing.

Good –quality, relevant and well-written articles will certainly help you attract back-links to your website: they’ll also increase your page ranking and enhance your natural search engine optimization. Even submitting just one article a week can publicise your business and the spin-off is that your thoughts could then be shared on an infinite number of other sites.

Make sure that your articles incorporate your keywords as this will help to increase your site’s rankings and popularity. Paying for article submissions, at least some of the time, may also help to increase your Web popularity. Paid submissions often allow your site to anchor up your major words in your articles. In most cases, paid submission also guarantees your article is submitted. There are several good resources for article submission.
