Social News: Twitter Cards.

Now we know what’s hot and what’s not, let’s find out what’s new.

You don’t want to trawl through the web to discover every new development. So, we’ll serve it up for you on a blog plate right here. This week, it’s all about the new Twitter Website Card.

What’s a Twitter Card?

Essentially Twitter Cards are a way of showing expanded information/previews inside your tweets about your blog posts or products. This will allow Twitter users to discover better content. It provides rich snippets for Tweets and I don’t think I’m the only one who thinks they’re going to be essential for making your content more portable in the future.

How do Twitter Cards it help me and my business?

It makes your content more searchable. Meanwhile, advertisers are able to drive a higher volume of URL clicks. They do this because users are able to preview an image, related context and clear call to action in their timeline before tapping. The main thing is that it’s easy to promote your content and track it.

How do we start using Twitter Cards?

It’s actually quite easy to implement for your site. Just a few lines of HTML and you will be able to effectively track tagged Twitter pages.

How excited should I be?

On a scale of 1-10… 6 or 7 maybe depending on how vital Twitter is to you and your brand. It’s early stages, but something to have in mind. Certainly something to flag up in those social/content discussions, even if you are keeping it on a back burner for now. Meanwhile, watch and learn to see how the new content streams through on Tweets.

a testimonial or two…

Since working with Jason from Search and More we have built up an excellent relationship with both him and his company. We truly feel that they are interested and committed to improving our on-line presence. From creating our weekly blogs right through to totally re-designing our website to ensure that it is ‘mobile friendly’. I would say that Search and More have become an integral part of our business and I would recommend their services whole heartedly.
