Are Keywords The Key?

SEO strategies need to be successful not just a waste of your time.

SEO is changing and becoming more challenging for Internet marketing. We are looking at ROI (return on investment but not in £) for time spent. You need to look at what will effectively drive traffic to the site.

Incorrect Internet Marketing could actually have the opposite effect and methods that worked well have now changed.

Let’s just look at keywords and link building…

Target Keywords.

The most essential part of on-page optimisation used to be Keyword usage. But this has also been the most abused. Up until recently we initially focused on specific target keywords based on the number of searches per month. It is now deemed better to differentiate your keywords and target a wider range as oppose to a few precise words. Long-tail phrases and keywords are more ethical now. Thinking about your audience and what you want has to be more specific than generic.

Keyword Density.

Previously keyword density was the focus of content. This is now deemed a myth and is questioned if search engines actually pick it up. Paying too much attention could actually be portrayed as “spammy”. Keywords need to be used for purpose and content and information.

Positive link-building.

Number of links used to have an influence on rankings, now it’s Quality of links, and where they appear that have an influence. It has far more impact to have links which are on sites which are recognised authority bodies or subject specific forums. Poor backlinks can have the adverse effect on rankings.

a testimonial or two…

Since working with Jason from Search and More we have built up an excellent relationship with both him and his company. We truly feel that they are interested and committed to improving our on-line presence. From creating our weekly blogs right through to totally re-designing our website to ensure that it is ‘mobile friendly’. I would say that Search and More have become an integral part of our business and I would recommend their services whole heartedly.
